Beautiful Picture5
I’ve had the set for 30 days now. I had some early concerns on the whole Edge-Lighting thing but they turned out to be frivolous. The picture has been outstanding. Played Dark Knight and Underworld, and the set handled the contrasts and deep blacks superbly.

The thin design is a work of art. My set sits on a console (not mounted) and sets the room off nicely; no visible wires and elegant design.

The streaming functions are a nice feature; good integration with Amazon and Netflix. However, I’m pouzzled as to why there doesn’t appear to be a way to access free internet content via portals like Hulu, TV network sites and such, without a laptop. (Or I haven’t figured it out yet.)

One mild annoyance that has more to do with Sony than the XBR10: No wireless internet dongle available from Sony. The Samsung version only works with Samsung products. So if you don’t have a Ethernet port nearby, you’ll need a wireless bridge to use a wireless home network.

Best TV in the world5
I’ve had my KDL52-XBR10 since mid-December. WOW! Beautiful design. The picture quality is mind-blowing. Watching the Winter Olympics in HD is amazing, you can see every hair in detail. The colors are spectacular and the blacks are DEEP. 240 Hz Motion Flow makes everything smooth. The picture is spectacular right out of the box, but you also have complete control over picture (and sound). Settings, inputs, Internet, and other options are accessible via the well-thought out on-screen Xcross Media Bar. To access the Internet or your home network directly from the XBR10, you’ll either need a hard-wired Ethernet connection between the XBR10′s media box and your router, or a wireless bridge (e.g. Linksys WET610N) connected to the media box to access your wireless router (e.g. Linksys WRT610N). I chose the wireless option and it works flawlessly.

Great TV, great sale4
The TV worked perfect, right out of the box. Our only complaint, and it is a small one, is that the screen is darker when viewed from below. You see, we put the tv on top of our refrigerator in the kitchen.

We tilted the base (with a piece of 2×4) so it looks great from the table. And the speakers are in the front, so the sound comes to us and not to the spiders behind the fridge.

It came on-time, no problems. This is a great buy.

size consideration4
I bought this 22” one today to replace my old 20” analog one. I am generally happy so far with the quick setup, also the clear audio due to the front-facing speakers. However I realized that in order to view 4:3 programming without cropping and distortion, the picture is smaller than the one on my old 20” TV. Upon some calculation I can now share this conversion formulae with you: if you are looking to buy a HDTV (widescreen TV) to replace your analog one (squarish TV), and want to maintain the SAME image size of 4:3 programming contents on your new widescreen TV as on your old squarish one, WITHOUT distortion and cropping, then the size of the HDTV (its diagonal screen dimension) should be 1.224 times that of the analog TV. For instance, to replace my old 20” analog TV and keep the same image size for 4:3 contents, I would have to buy a 1.224×20=24.477” one. Of course there is no such size, but you get the idea: buy one bigger than 24”! This formulae works regardless of the size of the original TV.

Blondie’s Bistro5
What a welcome addition to our home. Instructions were easy to follow and the screen is sleeker than I expected. Sony products never die so I retired my Sony TV of 30 years and fully expect the same performance of this new baby. Cheers to Sony for quality, design and endurance.

Nice TV, even if a bit pricey5
Never really concentrated to much on the sony products because of the prices of them. For the money, you can get a larger sized samsung like a 32″, or for the same size TV you can save big bucks by going with a westinghouse or other bargain priced TV’s sized at 26″ which is ideal for a bedroom. After purchasing a 26″ westinghouse and not being extremely happy I bought a 32″ Vizio. Still not satisfied, I left the bargain TV basement and took the plunge and bought this TV. Wow, what a difference. At $300-$400 dollars more than the westy, I’m not sure if it’s that much better if tied to a budget, but if you’ve got it (cash), get it (sony). As far as specs go, read the description, but rest assured this TV is really nice. Sound is better than expected for a 26″, menus are nice, picture is B.A. On XBOX 360, the best and most graphically demanding game is by far Gears of War. This TV makes it look incredible. The darks are dark enough in the spooky parts unlike other TVs I’ve tried out which looked washed out and lame. This set really makes the whole thing look alot better. I have been switching between the 3 presets (vivid, cinema, standard) and haven’t made any tweaks yet exept for turning on the dynamic lighting. I’m sure you could make the picture even better with some adjustments but it’s unnecessary.

great LCD TV5
I am very happy with the sony lcd tv. I narrowed down the 26″ lcd tv’s to a couple and checked them out at local stores. I liked the picture of the sony over samsung which was my 2nd choice. plus the sony did not have large speakers on the sides or bottom making it too large for the small opening in my entertainment center. the price was comparable and sony quality has always been good for me.

Owned this for a week now.5
This LCD is great, i was nervous because it is the first flat screen that the wife and I have ever bought. We set it up and it was a breeze, plugged our DVD player in and it also worked great. The picture quality with standard TV is very nice, but the HD picture quality is superb. I had to adjust the picture settings out of the box, but that is to be expected. Over all, I am very, very pleased with this product and Amazon’s quick delivery.

Great Picture and Features, plus it’s eco-friendly5
This is an excellent TV.

Picture Quality:
The picture quality of this set is superb. In the setup menu, I set the picture to “vivid” mode and the HD quality is simply life-like. The color and contrast are excellent. It also uses something that Sony calls MotionFlow which helps to smooth out the image when you are watching fast-action pictures.

Backlight Technology:
It is an LCD set, but uses a hot cathode fluorescent lamp for its backlighting. This technology allows it to be much more energy efficient and close to par with the energy usage of LED backlit LCD TVs. Most LCDs use cold cathode fluorescent lamps. The 40″ model uses a maximum of 140 watts, the 46″ uses a max of 160 watts, and the 52″ uses a max of 180 watts.

Eco-Friendly:
It has a sensor called a presence sensor that does two things. First it senses the ambient (room) light and if the room gets darker, it will automatically dim the picture of the TV. This works well if you are watching TV in the bedroom at night and you want less light output. The second thing that the sensor does is senses the room for motion and body heat. If you leave the room for a preset amount of time (5 min, 30 min, …) and the TV doesn’t sense anyone around, it will turn off the picture. If you walk back in the room, it senses you and turns the screen back on. The sound stays on for another 30 minutes or so, then the whole set will go into stand-by mode if it does not sense you. Both of these features can be turned off via the setup menu and help to conserve energy.

Features (just a few of them):
The TV is loaded with features. It will automatically sense if you have something connected to an input (for example HDMI2). This is great when you want to hit the input button on the remote because it will not select items that aren’t currently sending out a signal. This means you don’t have to scroll through 10 items if you only have two components connected to the TV. In the setup menu, you can set each input for always on, always off, or auto. I used the always on setting for the PC input because the cable I used to connect the PC did not send a power signal so the TV did not sense it. By setting it to always on, the PC input will always be available when I scan through the inputs.

It also has a lot of inputs. There are 4 HDMI inputs. If you have a DVI port on your PC, then you can connect it through HDMI port 1 which also has an analog audio input. There is one dedicated composite (with S-video) and one dedicated component input, but there is another switchable composite/component input that you can use if you have two composites and one component, or vice versa. There is a PC input to connect via VGA connection. The audio outputs are one optical digital out and one analog out.

Dislikes:
1. All of the Inputs and Output are on the left side (when looking at the front of the TV) of the TV. This is unfortunate for me since my A/V cabinet is on the right side of the TV. It is a minor inconvenience, but something that I did not think about until I got the set home. I would say about half of the inputs are one the left side and the other half are on the back, next to the side inputs.

2. The presence sensor is right where I have my center audio speaker. I will have to raise up the TV to still have that speaker front and center.

Overall, this is not a cheap TV, but I think this is a case where you get what you pay for. It is a really great set.

Great Picture. TV is finally off in the morning!5
Auto-off feature is really nice. I’m not as green as I should be, but this set has solved my teenager falling asleep with the TV on all night. Picture is great, menu/settings are very user friendly, and only ports with an item plugged in are in the “input” rotation on the remote. Highly recommend.

One weird thing about the White Glove delivery from Amazon. They showed up on time, and even phoned ahead…very nice, plus set the TV up and took the garbage. However during the setup the TV searches for channels automatically. When this seemed to be going slow, the delivery guy says “this can take awhile the first time it runs”, and my wife let them leave. After performing a “search” for about 30 minutes I discovered that they had used input cables from a DVD player that was not hooked up to the satellite system. I simply plugged an HDMI cable from the dish to the TV…and whammo…200+ channels almost instantly.

Everything else was great. I would make a similar purchase again with Amazon without hesitation.
